After submitting your bank statement as part of the required documents to the Canadian embassy, the question now is, how does Canadian Embassy verify your bank balance after you have submitted it?
In this article, I am going to tell you if truly Canadian embassy calls your bank to ask for your bank balance or if they have automatic access to your account balance after you have submitted your documents.
Does Canadian Embassy verify bank balance
Some visa officers verify your bank balance by calling or mailing your bank. If you are lucky, they may not even verify the bank balance that you submitted.
From my experience and research, for some applicant the Canadian embassy does not really verify your bank statement. This does not mean that you should submit a fake statement of account for a Canada visa application.
Visa officers are well trained and can spot a fake bank statement if they see one and that could lead to 5-10 years ban from entering the country.
In most cases, they send a mail to your bank to verify if the statement of account you have provided for your visa application is correct.
During my friend’s visa application, after he submitted his bank statement to IRCC, the Canadian embassy called his bank to confirm if truly the bank statement was fake or real.
Wait… how did my friend know that they called to confirm?
His account manager called him and told him that the Canadian embassy called to confirm the authenticity of his bank statement.
So it’s like a 50/50 depending on the visa officer handling your application.
Can I get a bank statement directly from the bank?
Yes, every person that is applying for his/her visa goes to the bank to get their bank statement because it is the only place where you keep your money and they alone have the records of your transaction which shows that your account has been active for 4-5 month because the visa officer wants to see that your bank account has not been dormant for the past 4-6 months.
How To Get Bank Statement For Visa Application
To get your bank statement, you will need to go to the bank where you keep your money and meet with either your bank manager or the customer care service in the bank.
Tell them you want to print out your bank statement, not just an ordinary bank statement, make sure you specifically tell either the bank customer care center or your bank manager that the bank statement is for your visa application.
The reason is that the bank statement for the visa application process is to be signed by the bank as a sign of authenticity.
Who Sends The Bank Statement?
While submitting a visa application, it is the applicant who submits their bank statement to the visa officer to review. Nobody is expected to submit it on their behalf.
But if you are using an agent for your visa application, then you have to retrieve your bank statement yourself from your bank and send it to that agent to submit it along with your visa application documents.
The reason IRCC requires the applicants to send it themselves is that if at the end of the day, they find out that the application is fake, the blame will be on that applicant’s head and nobody else’s.
There are two ways you can send your bank statement to the Canadian embassy. The first way is to manually add it to your application and submit it along with your other documents and the second way is to use Mybankstatement which is sent directly to the Canadian embassy on your behalf.
Using Mybankstatement, you only need to collect a document from your bank which contains a password. You will attach that document containing the password to your visa documents and submit it. The visa officer will use that password to access your bank statement.
What If I Don’t Have Bank Statement For Visa Application
Your bank statement is the first thing you need to work on getting 6 months before applying for a Canadian visa.
If you don’t have a bank statement that you would use, I would advise that you don’t continue with your visa application because it is the only way the visa officer can verify that you can take care of yourself when you get to their country.
When you get your bank statement together, then you can continue your visa application. It is better to have a passport without a denial than to have one with a denial.
So, just get a good bank statement that will increase your chances of getting your visa.
Can I use someone else bank statement for Visa Canada?
Yes, you can use someone else’s bank statement for your Canada visa application. The person should be someone that is related to you like either your Uncle, Sister, brother, father, or mother.
You can also use your business account to process your Canada visa application. A business is a separate entity when registered.
The reason why I said you should consider using the bank statement of someone that is related to you, is because it makes life easy for you when you are writing your statement of purpose and your sponsor’s letter of support to the visa officer. This is from my experience.
How long is a bank statement valid for visa application?
After printing out your bank statement and submitting it, your bank statement becomes invalid after 6 months of printing out for your visa application process.
It is believed that there might have been some changes in the account within the space of that 6 months.
Can we use e-statement for visa Application?
Yes, you can use an E-statement for your visa application. It is even more faster and reliable than the traditional printing of bank statements.
With an E-statement, it makes the visa officer access your statement faster and it is highly recommended to use an e-statement for your visa application.
I used an e-statement and my application was pretty faster and the visa officer did not have to state flipping through a series of bank statement pages.
So if you want to use an e-statement, go for it.
In Conclusion
Your bank statement is one of the most important documents you should never joke with because so many visa applicants have been banned from entering Canada due to fake bank statements.
Do not joke with it. It is better to keep your travel record clean than to have a bad record that can affect your future travel to other countries if a person is banned.
